After making brief appearances in several movies, Machine Gun Kelly finally became a leading man in the semi-autobiographical drama Taurus. Shortly after this movie hit the theatres, the Grammy-nominated artist promoted its release by dropping a music video for the title track “Taurus”.

Taurus centers on the last days of a promising but troubled musician who pushes himself deep into the void as the searches for inspiration for his next big hit. The film originally premiered at the 2022 Berlin Film Festival, and MGK was credited under the birth name Colton Baker.

Following the film’s limited theatrical release on November 18, the singer promoted it by dropping a music video for the title track “Taurus”, featuring his co-star Naomi Wild. The track features such lyrics as “Fighting with myself so I can’t help that I’m competitive / This movie is my life but I still remain uncredited.”

Machine Gun Kelly shared this song with the world only a few days after winning the award for favorite rock artist at the 2022 American Music Awards. He addressed his status as a rock artist in his acceptance speech, saying “There have been some people in the rock community who have called me a tourist, but they’re wrong. I’m a rocket man.”
