Lil Nas X is ready to prove the world he’s no one-hit-wonder, and his new song “Panini” is as catchy as it gets. It’s also accompanied with an epic music video, which pays homage to the cult movie Blade Runner.
The music video for “Panini” is set in a distant future and it sees the young rapper going to the great lengths to recruit Disney star Skai Jackson as his new fan. It’s quite a departure from his breakout hit “Old Town Road”, but this futuristic video is equally meme-worthy.
The “Panini” video also perfectly captures what Lil Nas X wanted to convey with the lyrics for this song, which sees him struggling to keep some of his fans after finding mainstream success.
“[This is] a song about a fan who loves you in the early stages of your career for the cool factor of knowing about something before it becomes mainstream, and that fan feeling like they’ve outgrown you when the rest of the world catches on,” said the country-trap sensation about his latest single.
