Lewis Capaldi has opened up about his newfound fame and has confessed he doesn’t think it will last very long.

The 22-year-old star recently achieved international acclaim following his hit single “Someone You Loved.” The track spent seven weeks at the top of the UK charts, making it one of the longest-running number-one hits in chart history.

Despite his global success, Capaldi is not convinced that the stint will last. “You can’t accept it as normality at all,” he told BBC Scotland “You have to say, ‘This is very weird and it’s gonna be for at least a couple of years.’”

“It’s so bizarre and I’m so convinced it’s not going to last very long, just because I think it’s at some size now where it’s like, this surely can’t go on any longer than a year. It already shouldn’t have gone on this long.”

He may be skeptical that the success will last but that does not mean that he is not enjoying the recognition.

“It’s wild, man,” he said. “You can’t ask for a better life. It’s just been wicked.”
