Lewis Capaldi’s new album Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent hit the shelves this month, and it exceeded everyone’s wildest expectations. It easily hit No. 1 in the UK, outselling the rest of the top ten combined and becoming the fastest-selling album of the year in this country.

Broken by Desire hit the shelves on May 19 and produced singles “Forget Me”, “Pointless”, and “Wish You the Best” ahead of its release. It sold 95,000 chart units during its first week on the chart, outselling the rest of the top ten on the UK Official Albums Chart in the process.

Capaldi was head over heels after reaching this milestone and thanked everyone who listen to, streamed, and downloaded his new album.

“Thank you very much if you went out there and got the album this week… Fastest-selling album of the year… it feels good! Thanks very much, guys – I’ll see you out there. Lots of shows, lots of smiles, lots of high fives. It means the world, I love you so much,” said Capaldi in a statement.

Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent is Capaldi’s second No. 1 album in the UK, and it’s currently the fastest-selling album of 2023, breaking the record previously set by Ed Sheeran’s Subtract with 76,000 units.
