Lana Del Rey paid homage to the Golden Age of Hollywood in several of her songs, but she took things to a whole new level with “Candy Necklace”. She just dropped a 10-minute-long music video for this song, which sees her becoming a Hollywood starlet in her own right.

Del Rey undergoes quite a transformation in this Rich Lee-directed visual, which sees her traveling decades into the past. We get to see her channeling some of Hollywood’s biggest icons, from Elizabeth Short aka The Black Dahlia to none other than Marilyn Monroe.

The ten-minute video also features behind-the-scenes shots and sees Del Rey explaining the meaning behind it all. She wanted this nostalgic visual to honor “women who changed their names and changed their hair” and “all fell into these different snake holes”, just like herself.

Del Rey recorded “Candy Necklace” alongside Jon Batiste and she released a shorter visualizer when her latest album Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd hit the shelves back on March 24.

Del Rey’s latest LP was met with critical acclaim and it hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart, with the biggest opening sales for any of Del Rey’s albums since Honeymoon in 2015.
