Lana Del Rey has shared her struggles with writing “Norman F***ing Rockwell” in a new interview.
It’s hard to believe that a talented star like Lana Del Rey would ever have trouble releasing a new album. In 2012, among the “Video Games” hype, it seemed like the singer-songwriter was filled with endless song. Speaking with Billboard, however, Del Rey has confessed that she initially struggled working with her producer Jack Antonoff, because she just didn’t feel in the mood for making music.
âI wasnât in the mood to write,â Del Rey told Billboard. â[Antonoff] wanted me to meet him in some random diner, and I was like, âYou already worked with everyone else; I donât know where thereâs room for me.ââ
She then explained how Antonoff inspired her by playing “10 minutes of weird, atmospheric riffs.”
She continued: âIâve got a more eccentric side when it comes to the muse of writing, but I feel very much that writing is not my thing: Iâm writingâs thing. When the writing has got me, Iâm on its schedule. But when it leaves me alone, Iâm just at Starbucks, talking s**t all day.â
Norman F***ing Rockwell will be released on August 30.
