Another CMT Music Awards is behind us, and it was a truly great night for the fans of country music. The rising star Jolly Roll picked up three awards by the end of the night, and he was closely followed by the ceremony’s most-nominated artist Lainey Wilson with two.
Jelly Roll made quite a splash with his breakout hit “Son of a Sinner”, and the CMT Music Awards voters were definitely paying attention. This song ended up winning three trophies, including the best male video of the year, male breakthrough video of the year, and CMT digital-first performance of the year.
As for Wilson, she was the ceremony’s most-nominated artist with four nods, and she managed to walk away with two trophies. In addition to winning the best female video of the year with “Heart Like A Truck”, she also won the award for the best collaborative video of the year for “Wait in the Truck” alongside Hardy.
Wilson and Jolly Roll both performed their hit songs during the live show, and the list of performers also included the likes of Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, and Shania Twain. The 2023 CMT Music Awards were held on April 2 at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, with Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown serving as hosts.
