There was a lot of uncertainty surrounding this year’s Academy Awards ceremony, but there was one thing we all knew for sure – Lady Gaga was going to win the best original song award with “Shallow”.

This power ballad from the hit musical drama A Star Is Born was a front runner from the very start, and no one was surprised after it came out victorious in its respective category.

Before the award was handed out, Gaga delivered an emotional rendition of this hit tune, alongside her co-star Bradley Cooper.

Mother Monster accepted the award with her fellow songwriters Andrew Wyatt, Anthony Rossomando and Mark Ronson. Lady Gaga encouraged everyone watching at home to follow their dreams and never give up saying she had to work really hard to get to where she is today.

“If you have a dream, fight for it. There’s a discipline for passion. And it’s not about how many times you get rejected or you fall down or you’re beaten up. It’s about how many times you stand up and are brave and you keep on going,” said the Oscar-winning singer in her moving speech.
