Kylie Minogue has been pretty busy in the studio in recent months and she’s finally ready to share the fruits of her labor with the world. The Australian singer announced the release of her upcoming album Tension, which is set to hit the shelves this September.

In an official statement teasing her new album, the Australian superstar explained she started working on it with an open mind and a blank page, without a specific theme in mind.

“It was about finding the heart or the fun or the fantasy of that moment and always trying to service the song. I wanted to celebrate each song’s individuality and dive into that freedom. I would say it’s a blend of personal reflection, club abandon, and melancholic high,” said Minogue.

She also revealed that the album’s tracklist will mostly consist of euphoric, empowered dance floor bangers and sultry pop cuts. She worked closely with her long-time collaborators, Biff Stannard and Duck Blackwell, on this record and they ended up producing and co-writing seven of the tracks.

Tension will be released on September 22, and it will feature a total of 11 songs, including its upcoming lead single “Padam Padam”. This will mark Minogue’s first LP sing Disco in 2020, which saw her return to her original disco-oriented sound.
