Howard Jones will once again be a part of metalcore legends Killswitch Engage, even if it is for just one song.

Current vocalist of the band, Jesse Leach, recently shared posted on Instagram a photo of himself, Jones and guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz alongside the caption: “This dude was in the neighborhood, so I figured hey let’s get him to lay down some stuff for a thing…He did, and it is going to be EPIC! That is all carry on with your day.”

After he psyched the fans with this announcement, Leach then posted a video where he lip-synced to Jones’ vocals, who was singing the new song live in the next room.

“The song is about keeping hope in dark times and helping out those in need,” wrote Leach. “The lyrics were written shortly after Howard’s band @lightthetorchband had announced the new direction and new name. The song was written even before we all hung out a few months back. This song was in fact written with Howard in mind and our connection through our similar mental illnesses.”

Killswitch Engage was formed in 1999 from members of metalcore bands Overcast, Aftershock, and Nothing Stays Gold. The band released their self-titled debut album the following year, which turned out to be one of the first successful albums of the genre.

In 2002 vocalist Jesse Leach quit the band and was replaced by Howard Jones of Blood Has Been Shed. With a new vocalist, Killswitch Engage releases 2004’s The End of Heartache and started to gain popularity worldwide. After nine years and four studio albums with the band, Jones decides to leave the band in 2011. Following Jones’ departure, Killswitch Engage decided to give Leach a chance for a do-over.

The band is currently working on their eighth studio album, expected to be released at some point in 2018.
