Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker has confessed that he accidentally forgot to tell the rest of the band about their upcoming headlining slot at Coachella.

Speaking with The Sunday Times Australia, the frontman admitted that the band found out about the slot via poster, rather than vie Kevin giving them the news.

“They would’ve woken up, seen the poster and thought it was a joke,” Parker said. “If they read this interview, they’ll know I forgot. We’re not much of a celebratory gang.”

Elsewhere in the interview Parker shared an update on the upcoming Tame Imapala album. It’s been four years since the release of their last album, Currents, and fans are getting itchy feet waiting to see what the psychedelic pop rock group will do next.

“I like to think that the album is its own thing,” he explained. “I wouldn’t want in 20 years to be listening to an album I made now and think that I finished it for any deadline or any particular reason. It was finished because it was finished.”

What we’re taking away from that is to hold tight because the album is coming and it will be worth the wait.
