The punch line to this decade-long joke is finally here and it takes the form of a hilarious music video for Perry’s latest single “Not the End of the World”.
The hilarious visual centers on a group of aliens obsessed with Katy Perry, that decide to abduct her and save her life before destroying Earth. Things don’t go according to plan when they make a tiny mistake and Deschanel ends up taking her place—and eventually saves Earth from destruction.
The physical resemblance between Perry and Deschanel has been a target of jokes and memes on countless occasions in the past. The New Girl actress even addressed it in an interview with The New York Magazine, saying “it’s a strange relationship to have with somebody.”
“Not the End of the World” has been released as the third single from Perry’s latest album Smile. It was released on August 28th, and it produced two top 40 singles with “Never Really Over” and “Daisies”.
