Jorja Smith’s rise to prominence was a joy to watch and she’s finally ready to unleash her second studio album. The R&B star announced the release of her sophomore LP Falling or Flying, set to hit the shelves this fall.

Smith will try to bridge the gap between jazz, soul, R&B, and funky house with the sound of her next album, while its lyrics will explore some of the most formative relationships in her life.

“It touches on breakups, relationships with my friends, relationships with old friends, relationships with myself. It’s definitely about a lot of relationships, but every song I write I can sing it to myself. This is the first time I’m putting stuff out there that I can connect with right now,” Smith said in a statement.

Falling or Flying will be released on September 29 via FAMM, and she found a perfect way to promote its release. The singer is plotting a string of UK record release shows in September and October.

It’s been five years since Smiths’ debut studio album Lost & Found hit the shelves, but she’s been pretty busy in the meantime. She hit the top ten in the UK with her EP Be Right Back in 2021 and released singles “Try Me” and “Little Things” earlier this year.
