After much speculation, Jesy Nelson has confirmed that she’s going to become a solo artist. This takes place not long after leaving Little Mix, the girl group that she grew famous with.

Towards the end of 2020, Nelson reportedly left the group in order to deal with her mental health. Now it seems as though she’s ready to get back into the spotlight but on her own terms.

As a solo artist, Nelson has signed a record deal with global management firm YMU, a group also partnered with artists such as Steve Aoki and Take That.

Fans of Nelson will also be pleased to know that’s she’s already begun working on new material, after photos of her working in the studio with producers were recently released.

“I am so excited to join YMU and can’t wait to start my next chapter,” Nelson happily divulged.

YMU CEO Mary Bekhait discussed her company’s excitement about having the 29-year-old singer on board with them: “Jesy has enjoyed incredible success as a recording artist and performer and is well placed to further her remarkable career.”

Incidentally, Nelson isn’t the only former member of Little Mix to go solo. Her ex-bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock also recently joined another agency—although unlike Nelson, Pinnock let her fans know that she wouldn’t be leaving Little Mix.
