30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto wants to see more women in the music industry.

In the wake of the #MeToo movement, which gained momentum last year in response to the large amount of sexual assault which occurs against women and goes about unreported and unpunished, Leto revealed he hopes to see more women working in the music industry as well as in the background.

He said: “I would say it’s a selfish thing because I realized that half the population of the world has probably a disproportionate amount of the talent. I grew up with a single mom who was hard working. She put herself through college and nursing school. I recognize the value of people. And there absolutely needs to be more women on the road.”

Leto is one of the most respected men in the music industry and one of the few popular musicians that has a clean-cut image. His words must be taken seriously.
