Jack Peñate has made a comeback with his first official release in a decade.

The British singer-songwriter was a hit back in the 2000s. His debut album Manitée peaked at number 7 in the UK charts and in 2009, Peñate released his most recent single, “Pull My Heart Away”.

Now, the artist has returned out of the blue with a brand new single. The track premiered today (August 29) and was introduced on Radio 1 as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record.

The track, titled “Prayer” is drastically different from his earlier material. There are backing vocals, synths, and electronic percussion. You can listen to the hot new track here:

Explaining the meaning behind his comeback track, Peñate said: “Prayer was made for and with my family and friends. It’s a piece about the unifying nature of loss and the thread of hope that survives throughout.”

Does this mean a new album is on its way? Watch this space.
