Iggy Azalea’s sophomore album was a long time in the making, and we finally know when it’s coming our way. The Australian rapper recently unveiled the cover art and confirmed the release date of her next record.
Azalea’s fans have been anticipating the new record since she shared its official title, In My Defense, and two new singles – “Sally Walker” and “Started”. The album will soon be available for pre-order, and it’s expected to hit the shelves on July 19th.
The Grammy-nominated artist also shared the album’s cover art, which shows her covered in blood on the side of her old-school BMW, while still wearing a shiny silver dress.
This visual left a lot of her fans puzzled, but Azalea explained what it represents after one Twitter user asked her if she wanted to capture her rebirth with this artwork.
“It’s a statement about women not having the ability to defend themselves under public gaze, not rebirth,” wrote Australian rapper, a couple of days after describing the cover as “the most aesthetically pleasing thing” she’s ever made.
