Iggy Azalea became the latest music star to sell her music catalog. According to Billboard, who cited a source familiar with the matter, the “Fancy” rapper reportedly got an eight-figure sum for a package that includes master recordings and publishing rights to her existing catalog. Reportedly, the deal includes “an additional trigger” for future revenue.

Azalea later confirmed the deal in response to a fan on Twitter.

“I sold a portion of my catalog to who I wanted, for an amount that means I don’t have to work another day in my life,” Azalea wrote.

However, despite not having to work another day in her life, Azalea still plans to continue making new music. After one fan asked her if she would have a tour in 2023, Azalea said she won’t because her “back literally needs a break.” But she did confirm she aims “to drop a project instead!”

Iggy Azalea’s most recent studio release was the 2021’s album The End of an Era. The album received positive reviews from critics, although the commercial performance was underwhelming. Following the album’s release, Azalea announced that she would take an indefinite break from music. The hiatus ended up lasting less than a year, after which Azalea returned to music activities with a series of shows in the U.S. and abroad.
