Hozier’s new song “Too Sweet” became a surprise hit on social media, and it just achieved a milestone only one of his songs managed to reach in the past. It debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming his first song since “Take Me to Church” to make it to the top ten.

“Too Sweet” hit the shelves on March 22, as one of the four songs on Hozier’s new EP Unheard. According to the singer’s statement, this body of work consists of songs “that might’ve made it to the circles of gluttony, limbo, violence, and the outward ‘ascent’… but could not for different reasons,” referring to his latest studio album Unreal Unearth, which drew inspiration from Dante’s Inferno.

“Too Sweet” managed to attract 28.8 million streams, 268,000 in airplay audience, and 4,000 in sales during its first week on the chart, debuting at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It became his second top-ten song on the Hot 100 nearly a decade after his breakout hit “Take Me to Church”, which peaked at No. 2 in 2014.

As for the rest of the Billboard Hot 100 for this week, Future and Metro Boomin hit No. 1 with their latest collaboration “Like That” ft. Kendrick Lamar. Five songs from their album We Don’t Trust You made it to the top ten, including “Type S–T” ft. Travis Scott and Playboi Carti at No. 2.
