American indie rocker (Sandy) Alex G recently made an appearance on SiriusXMU, where he decided to treat the listeners with some live tracks. Besides playing songs from his latest record House of Sugar, Alex G also did a cover of Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One.”
Alex G’s take on Twain’s hit single from 1997 turned out an interesting crossover between rock and country that really did justice do the original. Hear his rendition of “You’re Still the One” below.
“You’re Still the One” was the third single from Shania Twain’s acclaimed 1997 album Come On Over. The song topped the charts in several countries while winning Grammy Awards for Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance. It has since been covered by many artists, including Prince, Harry Styles, and Kira.
Following his SiriusXMU session (Sandy) Alex G is preparing to embark on a tour in support of House of Sugar. He will tour North America through October and most of November, before wrapping up the trip on November 30th with a big show in his native Philadelphia.
