It’s been a while since Grimes presented us with some new music, but you’ll be glad to hear that the wait is now finally over. The Canadian singer/songwriter and visual artist recently debuted her first solo track since 2015, collab single “We Appreciate Power” featuring HANA.

This new song was accompanied by a lyrics music video, directed by Grimes and her brother Mac Boucher. You can check it out below.

According to the press release, “We Appreciate Power” is inspired by North Korean band Moranbong, and “written from the perspective of a Pro-A.I. Girl Group Propaganda machine who use song, dance, sex, and fashion to spread goodwill towards Artificial Intelligence (it’s coming whether you want it or not). “

The song is believed to be a glimpse into Grimes’ upcoming fifth studio album, which was announced in February 2018. Back then, the 30-year-old musician said that she wasn’t to release the record until the end of the year. Although there was not much information about it since then, Grimes did share a working tracklist for the album in May.

Grimes’ last studio release was Art Angels from 2015. The release received critical acclaim and ended up being her most successful work to date. The album managed to peak at No.36 on US Billboard 200 while reaching No.16 on the Canadian Albums chart.
