Freddie Gibbs and Madlib joined forces in 2014 and made the critically acclaimed collaboration album, Piñata. The rap duo obviously enjoyed making the record together, as they now announced that its follow-up Bandana will drop on June 28th.

The album’s release date was revealed via a public stunt on New York City’s Times Square.

As part of the announcement, the pair also shared the album’s new single “Crime Pays” alongside a music video for the song, which was directed by Nick Walker. Check it out below.

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib will be joined by a number of guests on the record, including Pusha-T, Killer Mike, Black Thought and Yasiin Bey.

Freddie Gibbs was quite busy in the last year, as he presented two new albums. He released his fourth studio album, titled Freddie, in the summer of 2018 and then followed that up with Fetti; collaborative album with Curren$y and The Alchemist. Both albums were positively reviewed by the critics although they failed to find major commercial success.

Madlib, on the other hand, wasn’t quite active in recent years. His latest fully produced album was 2015’s Bad Neighbor, which he did in collaboration with M.E.D and Blu. His latest solo release, album Rock Konducta Vol. 1-2, came in 2014.
