Liam Payne, best known as the former member of the boy band One Direction, passed away at 31. Tributes poured in from the band’s devoted fanbase and Payne’s collaborators and peers after it was announced he was found dead after falling from a balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Payne died at the age of 31 on October 16, after falling from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. A police investigation has been launched, and the authorities declined to answer questions about the circumstances of Payne’s death.

They were brought together in 2010 after auditioning for the singing competition series The X Factor, and went on to become one of the best-selling boy bands in history before going on hiatus in 2016.
Payne kicked off his solo career with his debut solo single “Strip That Down” ft. Quavo in 2017, which reached No. 3 in the UK and No. 10 in the US, selling 11.5 million units worldwide. It served as a lead single on his debut solo album LP1, which came out in 2019 and also featured collaborations with Rita Ora, Zedd, and J Balvin.
