We’ve been given hints, we’ve been teased, but it seems that now it’s finally official: Foo Fighters are about ready to start working on their new album!

The confirmation came last week when frontman Dave Grohl told crowds at the Rock In Rio festival that work on the new album will commence once the band returns from Brazil to the US.

“I don’t know when we’ll be back down here again,” Grohl told Foo Fighters’ Brazilian fans, “but we will. We go home next week and we start making a new Foo Fighters record. It’s good, it’s good.”

That Foo Fighters were preparing materials for a follow-up to 2017’s Concrete & God has been known for a while, but this is the first time we were given a concrete timeframe. In August this year, Grohl told NME, “There’s always something. I’m constantly writing but not always seriously, then at some point, they become a little more formed.”

“When I feel like they’re ready, that’s when I bring them to the band. We’re not that far along in any kind of official process, but there’s always something.”

It seems like that certain “something” has coalesced into enough material for the band to hit the studio next week — and we couldn’t be more excited!
