Ed Sheeran teamed up with everyone from Justin Bieber and Khalid to Cardi B and Taylor Swift over the years, but his latest collaboration comes from a more unusual place. He found a perfect partner in crime for his new song “Celestial” in none other than Pokémon!

The adorable music video for Sheeran’s new single perfectly blends live action and animation and opens with shots of Pokémon merchandise in the singer’s room. As the video progresses, we see him interacting with a variety of Pokémon, including Pikachu, Charmander, and Squirtle.

Sheeran wrote “Celestial” for a new series of Pokémon video games, called Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and it’s not his first collaboration with this company. This song comes shortly after he promoted the 2022 Pokémon World Championships in London, but Sheeran has actually been a huge Pokémon fan since primary school because it offered a world that he could escape into whenever he needed a distraction.

“Even though I’m 31 now, I still own the same Game Boy Color and play Pokémon Yellow or Silver on planes and trains when I’m on tour. It’s such an honor to add a song into a Pokémon game and shoot a nostalgic video too,” said Sheeran in a statement.
