2019 has been a pretty crazy year for Ed Sheeran, but he’s ready to hit the brakes and slow down a little bit. The British singer announced he’ll take “a breather” from music in an emotional Instagram post.

Sheeran shared the news with his fans on Christmas Eve in an Instagram post captioned “BRB,” where he explained why he decided to make this move.

“The Divide era and tour changed my life in so many ways, but now it’s all over it’s time to go out and see some more of the world. I’ve been a bit non-stop since 2017 so I’m just gonna take a breather to travel, write and read,” wrote the “Shape of You” singer.

Sheeran wrapped up his post by promising he’ll drop some new music when the time feels right since he has to live a little more to actually have something to write about.

This announcement comes only a few days after he shared a music video for his Ella Mai collaboration “Put It All on Me,” which featured an appearance from his wife Cherry Seaborn. This song was featured on his latest album No.6 Collaborations Project, which topped the charts in the US, the UK and several countries around the world.
