It’s been a while since Donald Glover has given us a new album, but he’s been dropping snippets of new music every now and then. His new series Swarm recently came out, and its release was accompanied by a whole new EP featuring six songs.

Swarm centers on a young woman, whose obsession with one of the world’s biggest pop stars sets her on a dark journey across the country. The series drew a lot of attention from the music community because it’s very clearly inspired by Beyoncé and her fan base known as the Bey Hive.

Given the show’s music-related storyline, its soundtrack is always going to be amazing, especially given Donald Glover’s involvement. He celebrated its release by dropping a six-track EP, featuring the show’s fictional star Ni’jah (Nirine S. Brown), in addition to Fam Udeorji, Teo Halm, Jeff Kleinman, and others.

Glover hasn’t released new music under the Childish Gambino moniker since his 2020 album 3.15.20. Despite rumors of his retirement, the singer revealed that he’s working on new music during an interview at the 2023 Golden Globes.

“I’m making music right now. I love it. I’m in the studio, I’ve been bringing people in, secret people, and working on things,” said Glover.
