Doja Cat made quite a splash with her viral hit “Paint the Town Red”, and we’ve watched it steadily climb to the top of the charts since its release. This song finally hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming the rapper’s first solo single to soar this high.

“Paint the Town Red” climbed to No. 1 after drawing 32.1 million radio airplay audience impressions, 27.7 million streams, and 8,000 downloads during its latest week on the chart. This is quite an impressive achievement, considering this song initially only debuted at No. 15 following its release on August 4.

Seeing “Paint the Town Red” climb to the top isn’t a shocker considering it set several Spotify records since its release. It became the first solo female rap song in Spotify history to top the platform’s US Top 50 chart and the fastest to amass 100 million streams on this platform.

“Paint the Town Red” also single-handily broke hip-hop’s Hot 100 drought, becoming the first rap song in over a year to top the chart, since Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freaky Girl” in August last year.

“Paint the Town Red” will be featured on Doja Cat’s upcoming fourth studio album Scarlet, set to be released on September 22 via Kemosabe and RCA Records.
