After conquering the world of electronic and dance music, Diplo now decided to dip his toes (pun intended) into country music.

The American DJ and producer just announced that he is launching a new project titled Thomas Wesley under which he will make country music. The reason why his new moniker might sound familiar is that Diplo’s real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz Jr.

As part of the announcement, Diplo presented Thomas Wesley’s first single “So Long,” which features American country singer and songwriter Cam. We should expect more songs to follow soon as the press release promises “several forthcoming collaborations with country artists.”

You can hear “So Long” below.

Diplo has been quite active in 2019 having released his new extended play Europa back in February. The EP saw him collaborating with a number of European musicians including rappers Octavian (France) and Bausa (Germany).

Besides Europa, he also presented an album with his supergroup LSD this year. The record, titled Labrinth, Sia & Diplo Present… LSD was released in April and received mixed to positive reviews from the critics. It wasn’t a success on the charts, however, as it peaked at No. 70 on the US Billboard charts and only managed to crack top 10 in Norway.
