David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” Marks 50th Anniversary

A new “Space Oddity” video is here!

The new video marks David Bowie’s hit single’s 50th anniversary, as well as the  50th anniversary of Apollo 11’s lunar landing.

The reimagining of the 1969 video hails from helmer Tim Pope.

According to Bowie’s official website, “The video features never before released footage of David Bowie performing “Space Oddity” at his 50th birthday concert at Madison Square Garden in 1997.” 

“It is directed by Tim Pope, and includes footage shot and directed by Eduaord Lock, the founder and choreographer of the Montreal dance troupe La La La Human Steps, for the on-screen backdrop of Bowie’s 1990 Sound & Vision tour,” the website adds. 

The brand new “Space Oddity” video fitting premiered at a NASA event at Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center.
