Crashdïet’s New Album Was Recorded Just the Way the Band Wanted it

Swedish sleaze metal band Crashdïet are releasing their fifth album Rust this Friday, September 12th, the first to feature their new singer — Gabriel Keyes.

Drummer Eric Young spoke with TotalRock Radio’s Dawn about the new album, but also about a surprise guest appearance of no other than their previous frontman Olli Hermann in a recent show:

“That was a surprise,” said Young. “We obviously knew that he was going to play tomorrow with Reckless Love, but we didn’t know that he was going to be here today. I saw him post on Instagram, like, ‘Hey, Sheffield. We’re here,’ so I just messaged him, like, ‘Hey, dude. You can’t escape this. We have to do this.’ He was totally on. It was so much fun.”

Speaking of Rust, Young added: “It’s an album we’ve been working on for a couple of years. […] We played some shows last year, but it’s been a while since the last album, so we really had time to really do this at the pace that we wanted to do it. To be honest, that’s really what we set out to do — no pressure, no dates.”

And Crashdïet is certainly no strangers to pressure. “There’s always these stressful plans — ‘Okay, let’s do this. We have an album at this date, and then we have a tour, blah blah blah,’”

Young explained a phenomenon known to students everywhere. “And then you end up having the most stressful time of your life when you notice the release date is, like, tomorrow, and I haven’t written any songs.”

Well, if the band’s first four albums were recorded under such conditions, we can’t wait to hear what they can do when the pressure is off!
