Check Out Poppy and Grimes Colab “Play Destroy”

Poppy has released her brand new track “Play Destroy” and it is not we were expecting.

The track is from the artist’s new album Am I A Girl and features Grimes. It is unlike anything we have heard from Poppy before, mixing metal with pop to create something which sounds like a cross between Baby Metal and Metallica.

Poppy previously explained to NME how the collaboration with Grimes happened: “She followed me on Twitter, then I sent her a message and said ‘hi, I like you. We should make a song together’,” she said. “Then we made a couple of songs together actually. She’s really talented.”

She added: “It’s really great that she’s one of few female producers that is actively doing it right now. It’s very respectable. She’s really good with synthesizers and we wanted to take the song in more of a heavy direction. She’s great at melodies. I write pop music a lot. It’s her element which is a lot more abstract.”
