Barbie: The Album has given us some pretty amazing new songs, and Charli XCX’s “Speed Drive” was one of its best tracks. Almost a month after the film hit the theatres, Charli XCX surprised fans with a thrilling music video for this catchy banger.

“Speed Drive” visual doesn’t include any clips from the record-breaking Barbie movie, but that doesn’t stop it from paying homage to the iconic doll. Charli XCX co-directed the music video alongside Ramez Silyan, and she can be seen driving a pink Corvette alongside Devon Lee Carlson in an empty parking lot.

The video also features a cameo from Sam Smith, who interrupts Charli XCX with a video call in the middle of the music video. Smith’s song “Man I Am” was also featured on Barbie: The Album, but the duo is seemingly teasing a new collaboration with Smith’s cheeky cameo.

“Speed Drive” was originally released as the third single from Barbie: The Album and it found significant success on the charts following its release. It reached no. 9 in the UK and made it to the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, but failed to live up to the hype of the album’s bigger hits, including Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night”, Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?”, and “Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice ft. Aqua.
