After dropping several hints about a potential Oasis reunion, Liam and Noel Gallagher finally made things official. They’re coming back together for the first time in 15 years, and they’ve already announced a series of tour dates across the UK and Ireland next year.

The rivalry between the Gallaghers has been making headlines for years, but they revealed they’re finally ready to bury the hatchet by releasing a cryptic statement, “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

Shortly after this post went viral on social media, Oasis officially confirmed their reunion, explaining it wasn’t caused by a great revelatory moment, but the gradual realization that the time is right. This announcement comes shortly before the 30th anniversary of the band’s debut album Definitely Maybe, which went down in history as one of the defining Britpop records.

Oasis will celebrate their reunion with a tour across the UK and Ireland next summer, which will feature 14 dates, including four at London’s Wembley Stadium and four at Manchester’s Heaton Park. The tickets will go on sale on August 31, and plans are underway for the band to also announce tour dates outside of Europe.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is mostly associated with film and television, but it also honored many of the world’s leading recording artists over the years. The list of 2025 inductees is in, and it includes Prince, Green Day, and Depeche Mode in the recording categories.

According to the Hollywood Walk of Fame chairman Peter Roth, “each honoree truly embodies the essence of excellence in their respective field” and they’re thrilled to announce the distinguished honorees who will grace the iconic Walk of Fame in 2025.

Legendary musician Prince, who passed away in 2016, is one of the most notable names on the list, and he’ll receive a posthumous star. He’s also been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and received numerous prestigious accolades during his tenure, including seven Grammys and an Academy Award.

Several of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees made it to the list of the Hollywood Walk of Fame honorees, including the English electronic band Depeche Mode, the punk legends Green Day, and the soul/funk group The Isley Brothers.

Fantasia, Los Bukis, The B-52s, Busta Rhymes, George Strait, Keith Urban, and War are also among the most recent recipients, and the dates of their Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremonies are yet to be set.

Sony Music acquired back catalogs of several iconic artists over the years, and they’ve just made their biggest bid yet. According to Variety’s recent report, Sony is in the process of acquiring Queen’s back catalog for a record-breaking £1 billion.

Sony rarely comments on their catalog acquisitions, but Variety reports that two sources confirmed they cashed out £1 billion (around $1.27 billion) for Queen’s back catalog. Another bidder came close to securing the rights for Queen’s music but eventually stopped short at $900 million.

Sony’s deal reportedly covers everything from Queen’s music to merchandising, and the only revenue it doesn’t include are live performances by founding members Brian May and Roger Taylor, who still actively tour with singer Adam Lambert as a replacement for Freddie Mercury.

The details of the deal remain murky, given that Disney owns Queen’s recording rights in the US and Canada, while the group’s distribution deal remains under Universal Music Group for the next few years.

This is Sony’s first deal to hit a billion-dollar mark, but we’ve seen them cash out significant sums on their acquisition deals in the past. They paid an estimated $500 million for Bruce Springsteen’s back catalog in 2021, in addition to cashing out $600 million to get a 50% interest in Michael Jackson‘s music catalog.

Apple Music created quite a commotion with its list of the top 100 albums of all time, and they’ve finally shared their final picks. Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill was named the greatest album in history, beating Michael Jackson’s Thriller and The Beatles’ Abbey Road.

Apple Music’s list of their best 100 albums was shared on their social media platforms and official website over the course of the past 10 days. “This is my award, but it’s a rich, deep narrative, and involves so many people, and so much sacrifice, and so much time, and so much collective love,” Hill told Apple Music after accepting her award.

The BRIT Billion Award is presented to acts who managed to reach one billion streams in the UK, and one brilliant artist just joined the pack. Amy Winehouse was announced as the latest recipient of the posthumous BRIT Billion Award, and her parents collected it on her behalf.

The BRIT Billion Award has been introduced in 2023, and it’s been given to 25 artists so far. Amy Winehouse is the latest star to join the roster after crossing one billion online streams in the United Kingdom, including over 150 million plays for her seminal song “Back to Black”.

Mitch and Janis Winehouse, the parents of the late singer, accepted the award on her behalf and said they’re proud to see her music resonate with the audiences today.

“It’s amazing that she is still winning awards for her incredible talent and achievements… It’s wonderful that her music is being discovered by new audiences of young people who love it just as much as her contemporaries. We are so proud of Amy. Thank you,” they said in a statement.

Amy Winehouse rose to prominence during the 2000s with her albums Frank and Back to Black. She became one of the defining British artists of her generation and won five Grammy Awards for Back to Black before her tragic passing in 2011.

This month marked the ninth anniversary of Zayn Malik’s exit from One Direction, and he’s been reminiscing about the good old days. He recently looked back at the time he was a part of the chart-topping boy band and said they made some pretty amazing music together.

Malik embarked on his solo journey after leaving One Direction in 2015, but he hasn’t forgotten his roots. He opened up about his time with the band in an interview on a Stationhead stream and said he enjoys listening back to the band’s back catalog.

“I’ve been listening to a bit of One Direction music recently, reminiscing. Good times. We made some good music as a band. We were pretty good,” said Malik.

Malik joined One Direction in 2010, alongside Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson, following their auditions for the British singing competition show The X Factor. They went on to become one of the best-selling boy bands of all time, but it all came crashing down when Malik left in 2015 and they officially went on hiatus one year later.

Malik is currently gearing up for the release of his fourth solo studio album Room Under the Stairs. It will hit the shelves on May 17, and he promoted its release with the lead single “What I Am”.

Linkin Park announced the release of their greatest hits album Papercuts, and they came up with a great way to tease this project. They dropped a music video for the previously unreleased song “Friendly Fire”, recorded with the late vocalist Chester Bennington.

Members of Linkin Park have been on a hiatus since Bennington’s tragic passing in 2017, and they’ve only shared several previously unreleased tracks after their split. “Friendly Fire” is the latest, and it was originally recorded during the One More Light sessions.

The music video for this track was directed by Mark Fiore and mostly consists of footage from studio sessions and live performances. Bennington is prominently featured in the video, and “Friendly Fire” is one of the last songs he recorded with Linkin Park.

This will be one of the tracks featured on Linkin Park’s upcoming greatest hits album Papercuts, set to hit the shelves on April 12. It will feature songs released between 2000 and 2023, and Mike Shinoda said it was a joy to curate the tracklist.

“Each song in this collection is both a singular moment on our timeline and an evolving story that is as much ours as it is yours. From our first release ‘One Step Closer’ to the brand-new ‘Friendly Fire’, this tracklist spans all our chapters so far,” said Shinoda in a statement.

It’s been almost 15 years since The Black Crowes’ last album saw the light of day, and they’re finally gearing up for an epic comeback! The American rock band announced the release of their first album of new material since 2009, titled Happiness Bastards.

The Black Crowes are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, and Chris and Rich Robinson found a perfect way to mark the occasion. They officially announced the release of Happiness Bastards, their first studio album in 15 years, set to be released on March 15, and promoted it with the new single “Wanting and Waiting”.

Chris Robinson described this album as their love letter to rock and roll. He said this album represents the harmony he and Rich found together, and his brother echoed his words.

“This album is a continuation of our story as a band. Our years of experience writing and making music and touring the world are represented in this record, and we were brilliantly guided by one of the best producers in the business, Jay Joyce,” said Rich Robinson in a press release.

This marks the band’s first studio album of new material since Before the Frost…Until the Freeze in 2009. They went on hiatus in 2015 and announced they’re reuniting in late 2019, after Chris and Rich Robinson managed to resolve their differences.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Murder on the Dancefloor” hit No. 2 in the UK following its release in 2001, and it’s back to its peak chart position. Ellis-Bextor’s hit song re-peaked at No. 2 two decades later, following a true renaissance it experienced after being featured in Saltburn.

Originally released as a single from Ellis-Bextor’s 2001 album Read My Lips, “Murder on the Dancefloor” is going stronger than ever over two decades after its originally peaked at No. 2. The song owes its resurgence to Emerald Fennell’s latest film Saltburn, which prominently featured this catchy disco hit in one of its most memorable scenes.

Ellis-Bextor discussed the song’s epic comeback with the Official Charts, and thanked all the fans, both new and old, for streaming the song and helping it reach new heights.

“One thing I’ve always loved about my work is its ability to surprise me. Murder on the Dancefloor is a song I’ve been singing for 20 years, and I’m on really good terms with it. I love singing it, I love performing it and what’s happening at the moment is kind of magical, actually,” said Ellis-Bextor.

In addition to re-peaking at No. 2 in the UK, “Murder on the Dancefloor” became her first song to chart on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, after hitting No. 98 just last week.

It’s been more than a decade since Michael Bublé dropped his holiday album Christmas, but its popularity isn’t fading away. This festive record returned to No. 1 on the UK Official Albums Chart, for its sixth non-consecutive week on top.

Christmas originally hit the shelves in 2011, and featured Bublé’s renditions of the beloved holiday classics, such as “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”, “Holly Jolly Christmas”, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)”, and “Jingle Bells”.

This marks the sixth non-consecutive week Bublé’s Christmas spent atop the UK Official Albums Chart, after spending three weeks at No. 1 following its release in 2011 and returning to No. 1 in both 2021 and 2022.

Bublé discussed the album’s enduring popularity on Billboard’s Pop Shop Podcast in 2022. He admitted he would sometimes complain about its success because people couldn’t stop talking about it, but eventually realized how wonderful it is to have it as a part of his legacy.

“It’s become less about what religion you are and it’s become about just a time when us human beings might need a bit of a break. And there’s a little more empathy and kindness. And I thought, man, to be connected to something so beautiful, there are much worse things in life,” said Bublé.

According to the streamer’s official statement, it was assembled with the help of artists and experts, and “it’s a modern love letter to the records that have shaped the world we live and listen in today.”

Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill eventually made it to the top of their list of the best albums in history. This 1998 record is her only solo studio album, and it previously made it to the Library of Congress’s National Recording Registry and the Grammy Hall of Fame.

“This is my award, but it’s a rich, deep narrative, and involves so many people, and so much sacrifice, and so much time, and so much collective love,” Hill told Apple Music after accepting her award.

Blonde by Frank Ocean, Purple Rain by Prince & The Revolution, Abbey Road by The Beatles, and Thriller by Michael Jackson also made it to the top five. You can check out the full list below.
