Britpop icons Blur will make a return to the stage next year with a huge live show at London’s Webley Stadium. According to the official announcement released on Monday, the reunion gig will take place on July 8, 2023.

Blur will be joined by a number of special guests for the concert, including Northampton rapper Slowthai, EDM duo Jockstrap, and singer-songwriter Self Esteem.

“We really love playing these songs and thought it’s about time we did it again,” said Blur’s frontman Damon Albarn.

It is unclear whether the Wembley show will be a one-off performance for Blur or if the band intends to go back on the road again.

“I’m really looking forward to playing with my Blur brothers again and revisiting all those great songs… blur live shows are always amazing for me,” added guitarist Graham Coxon.

Blur is considered one of the most important bands in the Britpop era in the ’90s. The four-piece released seven studio albums, five of which went No. 1, between 1991 and 2003 before going on an indefinite hiatus. They had several reunions since then, with the most recent coming in 2015 when they released the critically acclaimed album The Magic Whip. The band took a break after wrapping up the promotional tour for the record.

The members of Blur have been recently active in their solo projects. Albarn is set to release a new album with Gorillaz in early 2023, while Coxon also has a new release coming with his side project The Waeve.
