Billie Elish’s debut album just became the second biggest selling album of the year.

According to figures released today, the alternative singer songwriter’s debut When We Fall Asleep Where Do We Go has sold over 250,000 units in the first week of release. It was also streamed over 100 million times and only a quarter of these was by us… (we kid!)

As it stands, the album sales are topped only by Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next. For a first album, coming second to Ariana Grande is a pretty impressive feat.

In a 4/5 review, Hot Pop Today said of the album: “Overall, Billie Eilish’s debut album is the kind of brave and fiery album we needed when we were 17. Eilish is unafraid to explore all sides of her character and this is reflected in the way she playfully experiments with her music, flitting between an anxious and empowered state. There is, of course, room for improvement but we cannot wait to see what the rising star does next.”
