Beyoncé’s fans have been patiently waiting for the singer to announce the second act of Renaissance, and the wait is finally over! Queen B announced the release of her country-themed album Renaissance Act II and gave us a taste of things to come with two new songs.

Beyoncé appeared in Verizon’s commercial during Super Bowl LVIII and used it to drop hints about her new music. Shortly after the ad was broadcast, Beyoncé teased two new singles on social media, set to be featured on her upcoming album Renaissance Act II.

“Texas Hold ‘Em” is an up-tempo country bop, and it sees Beyoncé toying with a new genre that will be the focus of her next LP. Its companion single “16 Carriages” is a soulful slow-burn ballad and it’s all about reflecting on one’s hard work and legacy as you grow older.

Beyoncé also confirmed she’s going country with a short teaser for Renaissance Act II. This promo video pays homage to Wim Wenders’ cult film Paris, Texas. The video shows a group of men looking at a billboard of Beyoncé in a red cowgirl ensemble, which references her new single “Texas Hold ‘Em”.

Renaissance Act II will be released on March 29, and it serves as the companion piece to Beyoncé’s last album Renaissance, conceived as a part of a trilogy.
