It’s been more than five years since Avril Lavigne released a new album, but that will soon change. The 34-year-old Canadian singer/songwriter recently revealed that her new album, titled Head Above Water, will be out on February 15th, 2019.

Besides the announcement, Lavigne also gave her fans another taste of the record by presenting a single “Tell Me It’s Over” and releasing an accompanying music video.

“I wanted to write something classic and have been inspired by some of the timeless queens I listen to every day at home, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin and Etta James,” – said Lavigne in a statement. “They represent women who stand up for women and aren’t going to put up with a man’s bulls*t anymore!”

Prior to releasing “Tell Me It’s Over,” Avril Lavigne presented “Head Above Water” back in September, with the track serving as the first single for the album. The song met with positive reviews from the critics, who called it “emotionally charged comeback” and a “powerful worship ballad”. The song peaked at number 64 at the US Billboard Hot 100.
