Lavigne knew she wanted Minaj to contribute on this track from the very start, and described her latest collaborator as a driving force. Two talented artists hoped this song will send powerful message to their fans and inspire them to stand up for themselves.
“We wrote ‘Dumb Blonde’ as an anthem for anyone who has been stereotyped or talked down to. Keep your confidence up and don’t let anyone tell you how to be. I hope you love it!” wrote Lavigne on Twitter.
The Canadian singer also added this song was inspired by her personal experience of being called a dumb blonde by a misogynist who was intimidated by her independence
“I was belittled and made to feel bad for who I was: A leader, someone with a vision and opinions, someone who has strength, desire, passion and goals. Never let anyone put you down for being who you are,” wrote Lavigne after sharing her new track with fans.
