After a couple of elaborate and extravagant music videos, Ariana Grande decided to take a completely different direction with her latest single. She joined forces with BFF Victoria Monet, and the two created a playful, care-free duet called “Monopoly”.

Unlike her previous videos for “Thank U, Next” and “7 Rings”, this one doesn’t have much of a plot (or production value), but it’s obvious that the two besties had a lot of fun making it. “Monopoly” shows Grande and Monet dancing around, while emojis and memes pop on the screen.

This song took everyone by surprise, and not only because it contains a couple of cryptic lyrics that left fans puzzled. Unlike Ari’s previous singles, it wasn’t heavily teased beforehand, and it’s a part of her new decision to drop new music whenever she feels like it.

“It feels sm healthier and so much more authentic and rewarding. Regardless of the outcome, I prefer this because it’s real and feels happy. No games. I love music. I love the people I make it with,” explained Grande.
