It’s been six years since the release of Alkaline Trio’s last studio album, but they’re finally ready to surprise us with some new music. The Chicago-based punk-rock band officially announced the release of their tenth studio album Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs.

Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs will be released on January 26, 2024, via Rise Records. It marks Alkaline Trio’s first studio album in six years since the release of Is This Thing Cursed? in 2018. It’s also their first album with drummer Atom Willard, who took over from Derek Grant earlier this year.

The album’s title holds a special meaning for the lead singer Matt Skiba. His mother, who works as an emergency room nurse, mentioned that they call exceptionally busy nights “blood, hair, and eyeballs”, and this saying inspired the title of the band’s next LP.

The band released an official statement explaining that they approached their new album in completely new ways, building the songs together from the ground up.

“Usually, we start with an idea somebody’s already written. This time, we had the unique opportunity to build the songs onto drums recorded at Studio 606 onto two-inch tape using one of the most beautiful-sounding and legendary consoles in rock,” Alkaline Trio explained.
