The Grammy Awards nominations are in, with Jon Batiste, Doja Cat, and Justin Bieber leading the way. Just like every year, the latest list of contenders features many snubs and surprises, and here are five that we really didn’t see coming.

Snub: BTS

Grammy voters have never shown BTS a lot of love, but it was still extremely disappointing to see the K-pop band only receive one nomination after giving us the song of the summer with “Butter”.

Surprise: The Weeknd

The Weeknd decided to boycott the Grammys after being shunned last year, but that didn’t stop him from receiving three nominations for collaborating with Kanye West and Doja Cat.

Snubs: Kacey Musgraves

Musgraves used to be a Grammy’s darling and even received the album of the year for Golden Hour, but voters didn’t seem to be as impressed with her latest studio effort and only gave her two nominations.

Surprise: Jon Batiste

Jon Batiste fully deserves the praise for his new album We Are, but it was still quite a shocker to see him top the list of nominations with 11 nods.

Snub: Drake

Drake gave us one of the most talked-about albums of the year with Certified Lover Boy but ended up receiving just two nominations in the rap categories.
