21 Savage is ending 2018 on a high note, thanks to his second studio album I Am > I Was. The Grammy-nominated rapper scored his first no. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with this record.

I Am > I Was hit the shelves on December 21, and sold 131,000 equivalent album units in the first week alone. His fans couldn’t wait to hear what he has to say, especially after learning his new record will feature the vocals of an impressive lineup of famous rappers – including Childish Gambino, Post Malone, and Travis Scott.

21 Savage mentioned he’ll be “going back gangsta” while discussing his sophomore album earlier this year. He prides himself on keeping it real and authentic in his rhymes, and he did the same thing with I Am > I Was.

The rapper used this album to give voice to the people who’ve got nothing, because he feels the rest of America doesn’t hear them very often. He’s aware there aren’t many people who can speak for them, and that’s why he decided to become one.

2018 has been an amazing year for 21 Savage even before this album dropped. He received two Grammy thanks to being featured on Post Malone’s song “Rockstar.” We’ll have to wait until February 10, 2019 to see if he comes out victorious.
