Hollywood is currently grappling with tragic wildfires that devastated local communities and pushed the dates of many industry events in Los Angeles. The Grammy Awards will stick to their February 2 date amid the wildfires, and the ceremony will raise additional funds to support relief efforts.
MusiCares CEO Harvey Mason Jr. and The Recording Academy’s chair Tammy Hurt announced the decision to proceed with the ceremony in a joint statement, adding they’re working with local authorities to ensure public safety and responsible use of area resources.
“This year’s show, however, will carry a renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours,” the duo said in a press release.
The Recording Academy and MusiCares launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort in response to this crisis, pledging an initial $1 million donation to support music creatives and professionals. They’ll use the upcoming Grammy Awards as “a platform to amplify the spirit of resilience that defines this great city of Los Angeles.”
The 2025 Grammy Awards will return to the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2. Beyoncé topped the list of nominations with 11 nods, followed by Charli XCX and Post Malone with eight, and Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar with seven each.
