Aaron Carter, who established himself as one of the biggest teen sensations during the early 2000s, passed away at age 34. Many music stars bid farewell to Carter following his tragic death, including his brother and Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter.

Carter was found dead at his home in Lancaster, California and the cause of death is yet to be determined. Following his tragic passing, his brother Nick shared an emotional post on social media, reflecting on Aaron’s struggles with addiction and mental illness.

“My heart has been broken today. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded… I love you Chizz., now you get a chance to finally have some peace you could never find here on earth,” wrote Nick Carter on Instagram.

Aaron Carter rose to prominence during the late ’90s and early 2000s, while opening for his brother’s band Backstreet Boys in 1997. He was only nine when his self-titled debut album was released, and it sold a million copies worldwide.

He found an even bigger success with his sophomore album Aaron’s Party (Come Get It) in 2000 and continued touring with Backstreet Boys. He went on to release three more albums and made several television and movie appearances in the 2000s, but his later life was plagued with legal issues and mental health struggles.
