Ranking Radiohead’s songs seems a little ambitious, especially as their collection is so eclectic, and they have more incredible hits than most other bands. Still, here is my list of what I think are the 10 best songs, judged on: lyrics, memorability and how well they perform live.

The Numbers

“The Numbers” is probably the most popular hit on the band’s latest album A Moon Shaped Pool. The ambient sounds and beautiful lyrics are captivating.

Codex

“The water’s clear and innocent.” A beautiful piano and vocal piece on par with the earlier hits “Sail to the Moon” and “Pyramid Song.” The muffled trumpets and serene lyrics give this song the edge.

The Daily Mail

It starts off as a beautiful piano piece and then takes a turn into something a little more rocky.

Idioteque

Whoever said you can’t dance to Radiohead has obviously not heard “Idioteque.” The drum beat is iconic and it is arguably one of the best songs on Kid A.

Everything in its Right Place

There are plenty of brilliant songs on Kid A but “Everything in its Right Place” is quite possibly the greatest album intro.. ever.

Paranoid Android

It’s difficult not to put the entirety of OK Computer on here, but the shifting parts and crazy guitar solos puts “Paranoid Android” securely on the list.

Present Tense

My personal favorite from the new album. The breakdown is sensational when played live.

Fake Plastic Trees

Unfortunately the only one I picked from The Bends, but an iconic fan favorite nonetheless.

Nude

I have always loved this song but when the band play it live, Thom Yorke’s ethereal voice fills and haunts an entire arena.

House of Cards

“I don’t wanna be your friend, I just wanna be your lover.” I love every track on In Rainbows, but I find something about this track quite personal and special.
