Within Temptation is finally back after a five-year-long hiatus, and their latest single “Supernova” proves their new album was definitely worth the wait. The music video for this song is here and it shows the band members at their full power.

“Supernova” shows Sharon Den Adel and her band mates performing in the post-apocalyptic landscape, with a supernova blasting in the sky above them. The singer dedicated this song to her father, who passed away last year, and the video perfectly reflects the big divide between this world and the next.

“It’s about the fact you’re always in battle with yourself and looking to make peace with both of those sides. You want a big sign from the afterlife, a big bang or something that tells you, ‘Yeah, he’s OK, he’s gonna be fine.’ That’s something you’re always searching for,” explained Den Adel.

Within Temptation dropped their new album Resist on February 1. The lead singer said she’s looking forward to going back on the road, despite the fact their last tour lead to a creative block that forced her to take a hiatus on focus on other passions.

“That’s what some of lyrics are also about. It gave us a little bit of new fire in a way. Sometimes you need a change to feel the love again for something. I really feel fired up again. We’re having fun and really looking forward to doing more shows,” concluded Den Adel.
