Lizzo fans who attended the rapper’s recent show in Hamburg, Germany, were treated to a special and unexpected cover. At one point, Lizzo did an impromptu rendition of “Du Hast,” the track from German’s legendary band Rammstein.

Clips that have been circulating online show Lizzo signing: “Du, du hast/ Du hast mich!/ Oma!/ Du, du hast/ Du hast mich!” while the crowd cheers her on.

“Oh, Hamburg, I’m having fun …” she proclaimed after wrapping up the cover.

Now, you are probably wondering why Lizzo incorporated “Oma!,” which means grandma in German, into the song lyrics. Well, one TikTok user who shared the cover on social media explains that Lizzo had just learned the word and thought it would be fun to use it right away.

Lizzo is currently touring Europe in support of her fourth studio album, Special. She is set to have shows in Italy, France, the UK, and Ireland through March before returning for the continuation of the North America leg of the Special Tour.

“Du Hast” was released as a second single from Rammstein’s 1997 album Sehnsucht. The track saw limited exposure at first but has since become arguably their best-known song outside Germany. It was featured in various media, including movie soundtracks and video games.
