R&B star Usher performed at Dreamville festival over the weekend and decided to pull off a hilarious prank on his audience. Towards the end of the show, the “Yeah” singer announced he’ll be joined on stage by Beyoncé, listened to the cheers from the crowd, and then told them it was all an “April Fools”.

Usher laid the foundations for the prank throughout the night, teasing a special surprise at the end of the show. After singing “Confessions” and “Confessions Part II,” the Grammy Award-winner paused the performance and addressed the fans in attendance.

“I said I would have a special surprise for you tonight, ladies and gentlemen,” Usher told the crowd. “You guys wanna know what that surprise is? Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, put your hands together for the one, the only, Beyoncé!”

Understandably, the chance to see one of the world’s biggest music stars in person was enough to get the audience to go wild. Everyone was eagerly waiting for Beyoncé to walk out, including Usher himself, but “Queen Bey” was nowhere to be seen.

At one point, Usher got worried and decided to check what was happening. While the audience held their breaths, the American singer returned to the mic and simply said: “April Fools”.

But Usher later did make good on his “surprise” promise, bringing out the Miami hip-hop duo City Girls. They performed their hit single “Good Love,” before Usher concluded his set with “OMG” and “Yeah!”

Besides Usher, the audience at Dreamville also had an opportunity to see shows from Drake, Burna Boy, Sean Paul, and many more.
