2018 gave us dozens of uplifting songs by our favorite female artists, who used their voice to articulate feelings of pride and rage we all felt throughout our lifetime. We’re bringing you five tracks that celebrated female empowerment with their lyrics and music videos.

Ariana Grande – God Is a Woman

You’ve probably expected “Thank U, Next” to make the cut, but if we had to pick the most empowering song Ariana Grande graced us with in 2018, it would definitely be this one.

Jessie J – Queen

All women are queens in their own right, no matter how they look or how old they are – and Jessie J reminded us of this with her girl power anthem.

Janelle Monáe – I Like That

It would be ridiculous to make this list without mentioning Janelle Monáe’s name. Any of the songs from her latest album Dirty Computer could easily make the cut, but there’s just something about “I Like That” that sets it apart.

Christina Aguilera ft. Demi Lovato – Fall In Line

Christina Aguilera gave us another feminist anthem with this powerful tune, and Demi Lovato was by her side every step of the way.

Cardi B ft. SZA – I Do

Girls Like You may seem like the more obvious choice, but Cardi B really proved herself as an empowering voice for women with the last track on her debut album Invasion of Privacy.
